Dan Rather if you recall, had some rather ( ) colorful colloquialisms to describe the 2000 election than became steadily more bizzare as Election Night rolled on. In the spirit of humor and knowing how darn sharp SwiftVet forum members I'd like to tap our collective memory and creativity for Dan Ratherisms for MemoGate. Let me begin...
Dan Rather is squirming like a woman in a too small bikini sitting on a too hot leather car seat on a too long trip from Galveston to Houston.
Dan Rather is madder than a wet bobcat cornered up a small tree by a pack of hunting dogs. |

Dan Rather is as jumpy as an armadillo who just tripped and fell on the hot pavement of Texas road, and burned his nose. _________________ Doc Ford

"These are unpleasant truths. But they are truths. There was and is no joy in reporting them. But part of what reporters are supposed to do is ask questions, dig for facts and, when truths are found, share them with the public and, when called upon to do so, speak truth to power. This we did."
Dan Rather, yesterday's interview with the New York Observer

Dan Rather, looking into the camera: "An old and dusty sneaker propped on top of a fence post got knocked down by a wind swept tumbleweed, and walloped me in the head. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. This is Dan Rather for CBS Evening News. . . . . Courage." _________________ Doc Ford

Slow pan of studio, showing flickering TV montors. As the camera pans, the monitors are extinguished, one by one
Seated at CBS Anchor Desk, notes and papers arranged in a neat pile in front of him, Dan Rather, in deep contemplation of Kerry's inexplicable loss on Election Day.
"Today, a man who would be president, was defeated. Yet, even in his defeat, there is victory; for despite his flip-flop, he still retains his Senate seat. Yes...."
Dramatic pause for effect
"The thong is gone, but the malady lingers on."

As far as Dan Rather goes, it looks like CBS is starting to get the "buckwheats". _________________ U.S.M.C. - 1969-1971

The collective sphincters at CBS News are now tighter than the lug nuts on a rusty '55 Buick. |

Dan probably feels like a three legged cat being chased by a pack of dogs. _________________ Regards,

Dan's backed into a corner like a week-old kitten facing a pack of rabid pitbulls.
Am I on the right track here? I don't listen to him much. |

Dan Rather is nuttier than a Texas Pecan Pie.
Edward R. Murrow is spinning in his grave faster than a Texas Twister in Lubbock County.
