THANK YOU, Swiftvets....
This old Marine salutes you for leading this important battle.
I thought the Viet Nam War was over, but it seems Sen. Kerry wants to fight it some more.
I enlisted in the Corps in July, 1969. My cousin, PFC Dennis Mead earned his PHs the hard way. He was shot in the neck at Kae Sahn in January,'68. After convalescing in the hospital at Da Nang, he and 19 other Marines boarded a C-130 bound for the fire base. Da Nang was under attack at the time, and at about 200 ft above the end of the runway, the bird exploded in mid-air killing all aboard. The Commandant explained in a personal letter to my Aunt that a shoulder-fired rocket was presumed to strike it, causing the crash.
I Served in the Air Wing, first with VMA(aw)121 at MCAS Cherry Point from 6-70 to 2-72. I was ordered to VMA(AW)533 at Iwakuni, Japan in February, 1972. The following June, the NVA launched the Quang Tri Offensive, and our squadron was ordered to MAG-11, Task Force Delta, Nam Phong, Thailand. We spent that summer and fall hammering the North and South with 500 pounders and Rockeyes.
In December, our aircrews ran SAM Suppression over the north in support of Operation Linebacker II, enabling the Air Force to deliver much needed destruction to North Viet Nam, ultimately ending (I thought) the War and bringing our POWs home.
Now Kerry wants to claim to be a hero and has opened a new front. For the Honor of those who suffered in the POW camps and those who fell in the cause of freedom, we must fight the friends of the NVA. Jane Fonda has been silent so far, but not John Kerry. He is no more fit to be Commander in Chief than she is. He dishonered his fellow Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen and Marines; He has discraced HIS Commander in Chief (President Nixon) and the Armed Forces of The United States by supporting and even leading the VVAW. Now he says he has a plan for the War on Terrorism. I do not want to think about what could happen if he is elected. _________________ Hawks ruled the night - Hanoi was left defenseless..

Welcome home BigAl533 and thanks for serving
your country in the USMC.
Of course not all POWs came home from Vietnam. Many
were left behind. And we have many MIAs unaccounted
for by the government of Vietnam.
14 September 2004 was National POW/MIA Recognition Day.
It was mostly overlooked in my community. Possibly because
the date was changed this year so as not to conflict with
other religious dates. However, it is sad to think that our POWs
(of all wars) have been left behind and forgotten by many
Americans. Some of our government installations even forgot
to raise the POW/MIA flag on the prescribed dates, which is
required.
It is also sad to think about how Lt. Kerry, USNR comments
were used against our POWs, some of whom died in POW
prisons in Vietnam.
The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth have scored so many hits
on presidential candidate Kerry that the only way they (the Kerry
campaign) can
respond is to bring up the Guard (via Dan Rather). Therefore,
Vietnam will not go away and we will hear about it right up to
2 November. Stand by for the next Swift Boat for Truth ad
and other ads right up to the election.
