Here are the WSJ reader responces to Kerrys article

Quote:
My Economic Policy
JOHN KERRY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I Don't Trust You
Andrew Rodenhouse - Grand Rapids, Mich.

As an owner of two auto repair shops in west Michigan, I find the idea of corporate tax cuts to be a very favorable idea. Sen. Kerry's idea of corporate tax cuts sound like a great plan, but I just don't trust him to make it happen. He has changed his mind too many times to count and I don't think he will stand up to Congress and fight for tax cuts. President Bush pushed through his tax cuts even when Sen. Jeffords switched sides and gave control of the Senate to the Democrats. President Bush fought for those tax cuts and won. I trust President Bush to continue to fight for tax cuts. I don't trust John Kerry.

Do You Expect Us to Take You Seriously?
Al Amoling - Kennebunk, Maine

John, John, John you had an opportunity to initiate any of your proposals as a senator. Apparently you were too busy taking "live shots" to attend to the business of the people. For crying out loud you don't even go to the Senate Intelligence Committee meetings. How do you expect anyone to take you seriously when you're not willing to get some intelligence.

You Failed as Senator
Marlene Elacqua - Latham, N.Y.

If, as John Kerry suggests, he were to become the new CEO (president) of this country on Nov. 2, I would hope his record as the leader of the free world would be more effective than his record as senator has been for the past 20 years. In fact, he chooses to ignore that record; what makes him think he would do better in a new position?

Just Go Away
Ellen Clarke - Alpharetta, Ga.

Note to John Kerry, oh just go away! Who needs to hear these grandiose plans? You did not accomplish one single thing during 20 years in the Senate--nothing to point to with pride. Why should we believe more of your promises and lies? Please do us all a favor and just go away to the great state of Taxachusetts. Or go to one of your five U.S. mansions and who knows how many foreign mansions with your Ring-Tailed Tooter wife.

Waiting for Edward's Apology
Harold Henry - Roswell, Ga.

Now I understand the real reason John Edwards has been nominated for vice president--his vast wealth generated from frivolous malpractice suits serves as a great example of what John Kerry plans to eliminate as part of his plan to cut health care costs. Will Mr. Edwards now give his money back and tell Ob-GYNs "sorry I drove you out of the practice of delivering babies"?

You Should Be in Advertising
Thomas Roddewoerm - Miami, Fla.

Thanks John Kerry! I had never heard of this economy.com place before now, but it seems to be a pretty decently run Web site. I didn't expect to learn anything from typical John Kerry rhetoric, but at least I got something out of reading this. I wonder If John Kerry ever wanted to be in advertising.

Fuzzy Math
Brent Eldredge - Highland, Utah

Mr. Kerry is so smart, in one paragraph he claims that 1.6 million jobs were lost only to have 1.7 million jobs created. Now I am no mathematician, but that seems to indicate that there are now 100,000 more people employed than when President Bush took office. I am not so sure that is bad news.

Editor's Comment:
The Economy lost 3.3 million jobs, so after creating 1.7 million jobs Mr. Bush is still on the hook for losing 1.6 million jobs.

You're Clueless
Robert Beardsley - Fort Worth, Texas

We don't need a CEO who changes with every wind of doctrine and who has no apparent moral compass. We need a leader that has four proven years of experience rather than someone who based his entire campaign on four months in Vietnam. What did you do in the Senate to help real CEOs? Have you ever run a business as a CEO? You really don't have a clue do you?

And Kerry Is Good at Doing Nothing
Jim Woodburn - Louisville, Ky.

The last time the Democrat nominee promised a middle-class tax cut was in 1992. But after being elected and with just one week on the job, President Bill Clinton said that he worked as hard as he could to make it work, but the budget was in such bad shape that he could not cut taxes. Instead he raised taxes. But Mr. Clinton, for all his problems, was not nearly the flip flopper that Mr. Kerry is. And Mr. Kerry, as president, will not need to do anything to raise our taxes. All he has to do is let the Bush tax cuts expire. If he couldn't stand up to Howard Dean, why should we think that he will stand up to the other tax raisers in his party?

Nice Try
Matthew Goggins - The Bronx, N.Y.

Sen. Kerry, thank you for reaching out to me and other Wall Street Journal readers. You have presented many interesting proposals. Perhaps President Bush may even end up implementing some of them. Because if I and others who are concerned about your steadfastness in the war against Islamist terror have anything to say about it, there's no way in Nantucket you'll be spending a night in the White House other than as a houseguest.

Fuel That Engine
Leon Polyakov - Los Angeles

Mr. Kerry: The economy has turned the corner. The unemployment rate is at 5.4%. Productivity growth equates to meaningful, secure jobs. Not the kind of insecure jobs that were a product of a bubble economy. Jobs best-sourcing is a small part of employment volatility. But it contributes to a growing economy by allowing American business to be more productive. If elected, you should allow "America's engine for innovation and job creation" to remain such and not burden those who own and run that engine with a heavy "gas" tax.

Look to the Future
Catherine Alfieri - Pittsford, N.Y.

It is about time that both campaigns with the media's willing assistance, stopped acting like the History Channel and started presenting their vision and agenda for America's future. Sen. Kerry and the president need to follow up with interviews where their ideas can be amplified and debated rather than sending out their stand ins. It takes courage to face the fire of media scrutiny on one's platform as surely as it took courage to enlist and serve one's country as both candidates did and most of us did not.

It is time for the candidates to look to the future and for the rest of us to listen to what they have to say and then exercise our most precious right to cast a vote on Nov. 2.

What Next, Dan Rather
E. Boyd - La Jolla, Calif.

Oh my God! I very foolishly read Mr. Biden's article of 9/12 just this evening (having been most reluctant to do so), then followed it with Mr. John Kerry's editorial--both articles were--well--I am simply not feeling well enough to continue this response! Next thing I know, you will be allowing Dan Rather to contribute! Now I really feel ill!

Your Record Disproves This
Ron Beal - Lenexa, Kan.

What nonsense. Kerry has a 20 year track record in the Senate that belies everything in this article.

Outsourcing Flip Flop
Rita O'Neill - Fairview, Texas

Compare and contrast:

"I will end every single incentive that encourages companies to outsource. Today, taxpayers spend $12 billion a year to subsidize the export of jobs."

With:

"And I won't be afraid to take on prescription drug or medical malpractice costs. We will make it easier for generic drugs to come to market and allow the safe importation of pharmaceuticals from countries like Canada."

So exporting jobs is bad, except when it comes to buying drugs?

Flip flop!

Checking Up on You
Toni Marberry - San Antonio, Texas

After reading Sen. Kerry's article, I've come to the conclusion he thinks Americans are not capable of checking on his voting record. I've looked at the voting record and I don't like what I see. It is in direct conflict with what you say. I encourage everyone to check out www.vote-smart.org and see for themselves.

As far as casting the deciding vote in 1993 for a balanced budget, I hope you are not referring to HR 2264. Vice-president Al Gore cast the deciding vote.

Now Allow Bush to Write
Lee DePue - Hendersonville, Tenn.

Very good. Now when can we expect to see equal space for an official Bush-for-president campaign speech in print? Now that you are stumping for John Kerry can we see some semblance of balance here? This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen and the bias in the media is not even being hidden anymore.

You Need Basic Economics
Raj Sampath - Sunnyvale, Calif.

Where do I begin?

By his own admission Mr. Kerry says that 2% of the so-called rich American population has to share the federal budget while he claims to support making the tax reduction permanent for the remaining 98%. Now that I have swallowed it with a grain of salt, I wonder, is it not classic redistributionism?

Regarding the healthcare cost, has he ever wondered that Americans have treatments for more ailments than ever before? Doctors, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies on their own have offered exceptional array of modern treatments which continue to extend average lifespan. Somebody has to pay for it. Where is the healthcare crisis? World's top pharmaceutical companies are located in America but somehow Mr. Kerry thinks importing drugs from Canada is going to solve drugs problem. With Mr. Edwards as vice president he will boldly take on the trial lawyers and rein the cost of medical malpractice cost. Yeah right!

What deficit reduction plan under President Reagan? Didn't the Democrats claim all the time that Mr. Reagan's economic policy was terrible and deficit ballooned? Now he want to take credit for a bill that failed by his own admission. Is it not classic double talk?

"Restore economic confidence," what was he doing prior to President Bush term when some of the corporations were indulging in fraudulent activities. The record clearly indicates that President Bush's has successfully persecuted number of violators.

Broadband penetration ranking means nothing. Clearly in small countries with dense population, broadband penetration will be high because it is much more economically feasible. Must be "I invented the Internet" syndrome at play here!

"Level playing field," "tax loopholes," "trade deficit" and "WTO case," (I am yawning) Mr. Kerry please take economics 101.

Wall Street Wants Bush
Jim Allen - Bremen, Ga.

Everything for everybody! Mr. Kerry absolutely blows my mind every time I hear or read anything he says on any subject. The economy is no different. The three former business people he mentions are definitely in the minority in their support for Mr. Kerry. Wall Street hopes George Bush gets re-elected. They have a great fear of Mr. Kerry's tax and spend economic policy he will certainly promote if he were to be elected. Let us all hope people can use their heads and not their emotions to make the right decision and vote George Bush back into office.

Increase the GOP Majority
Morris Buttnick - Mercer Island, Wash.

Why would we want to hire a tax and spend Democrat when the incumbent is acting responsibly and is achieving spectacular results? We would do better to make Congress considerably more Republican so that President Bush can move full speed ahead with his sound economic policies.

This Is a Joke
Jessica O'Connor - Bayonne, N.J.

You're kidding right?

Where's Bush's Free Ad?
L. Leach - Arcadia, Calif.

This is a campaign ad. Free. Will President Bush be given the same opportunity to campaign in The Wall Street Journal?

Yep I sure do remember President Carter (and I used the term President lightly in that I respect the positon not the person). This is the president that when the cost of living index was up 13.3 percent he capped the military pay increase to 5.5 percent!
Sincerely,

If Kerry wants some interest in Wall Street, he'll have to become chummy
with Alan Greenspan and get Robert Rubin to work a lot harder for him.
That he hasn't done this may mean that he's not on the ball or that they
don't like him.

You'd figure that Rubin would be all over the place promoting him but
I don't see much from him.

Of course going around Wall Street and telling them that you're going to
crank up their taxes and the taxes of their clients is really a non-starter
with those guys.
