I often just watch in amazement.
Danny Rather and SeeBS, Kerry and his fantasy life, the riffraff hangers on falling under the growing supremacy of the internet.
These guys are injured and they are very, very dangerous--moreso than ever before. But they're falling and, as wise people here and elsewhere have said, when you've got 'em by the throat you don't let go to get a better grip.
I own an internet-centered business and have been keenly aware of the net's power and it's unimaginably huge future. And now I sit and watch as icons are torched to the edge of vaporizing, a line they will soon cross. The internet is the future in commerce and in communications. We're watching it happen.
Any of us who have seen footage of the last battle of the German monolith The Bismarck will grasp the parallels in this. The mighty carnivore of the seas, the raider ship, taking hit after hit after hit after hit after hit after hit, quickly losing her own ability to accurately target her attackers, losing as well her armaments, slinging wild potshots with whatever she had left, flailing, finally losing a magazine or two, rolling in the sea. . .
This is history. We're watching it happen and, with crippling, even fatal accuracy, we are also participating in it. A carnivore of the airwaves, stricken repeatedly, continuously, by the lightning of the internet, is foundering. Every maneuver she makes is countered by five from us. What a trip.
It ain't over 'til it's over, but as we let others know of the battles being fought here the end will come.
Gosh, I love this war! _________________ R.E. Gleason, YN2
