Distorting the Iraq Issue

The issue that people against the war in Iraq continue to bring up is that nobody found any Weapons of Mass Destruction, or WMD’s. The reason for going to war was not whether or not Iraq possessed the WMD’s, but rather, what did Saddam Hussein and Iraq do with the WMD’s that Saddam admitted to having when he signed the Cease-Fire agreement at the end of the Gulf War in 1991. This means that if Iraq failed to comply with the order set forth by the U.N., hostilities could resume to force Iraq to comply. Saddam Hussein claims that he destroyed the weapons, but he never allowed inspectors to unconditionally inspect his facilities. The inspectors were allowed in only on his conditions, and always with several days notice. In addition, Saddam failed to supply the U.N. with the evidence that the weapons were actually destroyed.

How is it possible that the world was being asked to trust a man who was not afraid to use chemical warfare on people in his own country. Even though Saddam and Osama Bin-Laden may have never met in person, that does not mean that a relationship between Iraq and Al-Qaeda does not exist. Even though Saddam may have never actually been to Africa to purchase Uranium, that does not mean that he never inquired about purchasing nuclear materials. The terrorist group is not afraid to die to further their cause, and if they had the opportunity to purchase a nuclear device that could take out a major American city then why would they not try to broker a deal with the Butcher of Baghdad After all, if it meant that Saddam Hussein could make a quick million or two by selling a nuclear device on the open market, why not? Could the world take this chance? I know our President made the right call.
The attacks on New York City and Washington D.C. were a criminal act, yes, but these criminals are fighting in a holy war and they will not stop until all of the infidels are killed. The world will also remember that the Nazis who committed the atrocities in Germany were deemed as war criminals. By that same standard, are the soldiers who committed the atrocities in Vietnam also war criminals? If that is so, then Senator John Kerry, having admitted to committing these atrocities to a congressional panel after the Vietnam War in 1972, is himself a war criminal. Many, if not all, of the Veterans of the Vietnam War would disagree with that, but can Senator Kerry? He has continued to use Vietnam as a qualification for serving as America’s Commander-in-Chief. Since 1972, by John Kerry’s own testimony to Congress, he has no respect for the military and this country. He threw away the medals that he was given for his service, or were they someone else’s ribbons. Truthfully, John Kerry does not know anymore. Is this the man America needs in charge of defense?[/i]
