Kerry knew in 2002 when he was preparing his "search committee" that, if his Senate record became an issue or was even talked about on talk radio, they would start at the beginning: 1985. If they did, he knew he was done-for. So he had to come up with some way of distracting conservative talk radio. I guess he rolled the dice and figured he would rather weather the storm over his post-Vietnam activites than have anyone talk about his first four years as a Senator. He probably figured his military record was enough to pull a few pro-military/anti-Bush conservatives while his "activist" record would win-over all of the liberal yahoos. 51% is a win in a two-way Presidential race.

I think Kerry would put up with nearly anything to keep Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Mike Reagan (especially Reagan!), Laura Ingram, et. al. from talking about his "negotiations" with Daniel Ortega. Notice his cohort, Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) has been one of the most vocal figures keeping the whole VN thing in the press.

Oddly enough, its worked. Just mention Nicaragua or Daniel Ortega and people's eyes glaze over. He was a worse butcher than Saddam -- and twice as dangerous, potentially -- and Ronald Reagan knew it. Kerry accused Reagan of getting us into another Vietnam (he trotsky's that line out every time the Boy Scouts hold a jamboree) but he was wrong. No one wants to talk about it but Kerry and Harkin violated the Constitutional seperation of powers (an impeachable offence), broke several international laws, gave a Marxist dictator the locations of US advisory teams (those teams soon disappeared) and returned from Managua with a "gentleman's agreement" with Ortega saying the US would get out of Central America, keep hand's-off the Sandanistas, let Ortega have the Atlantic Coast tribals and the Contradora if only he would stop taking Soviet military aide ("humanitarian aide" was fine) -- the same night they left he flew to Moscow to pick up an "aide" cheque for $200million from the Kremlin and a promise for more small arms, Hind helicopters and MiG fighters.

Harkin and Kerry were censured by the Senate but State and the White House were hamstrung by the press -- which called the two bozos "heroes" for giving peace a chance -- so Kerry tried to bring the Reagan administration down over Iran-Contra (a non-story ala the Rathergate memos, going on right now, and the Winter Soldier "testimony" of 1971 -- Kerry is real big on prosecuting people using made-up evidence). That didn't work so he made up the thing about the CIA starting the drug trade -- again, totally made-up BS.

Have you heard Rush and Company talking about ANY of this? Nope. Why? Because they've been distracted by all of the juicy gossip over Kerry's Hero-turned-Protester-turned-Hero (again) past and the attacks the DNC/MoveOn have launched against Bush. Conservative Talk Radio has let the liberals own the agenda.

The liberals know "we" have no voice other than talk radio and the internet -- forums like this one, blogs, and the odd, stray "conservative" news sites like Drudge and NewsMax. They know they own the newspapers, TV and pollsters. The only way to shut us up and keep Kerry's treasonous behaviour of 1985 (as opposed to his treasonous behaviour of 1971) under wraps was to divert those outlets. Shame to say it but, they were right. I tried calling Savage about this and his call screener hung up on me, "That's not even a topic..." Don't even bother trying to get through to Limbaugh.

Well, for what its worth, I've tried mentioning it on other forae before, as well, and have e-mailed all of the above talk shows and the silence from all quarters has been deafening. Nobody remembers, nobody cares, nobody wants to think about it. We did our best back in 1982-83 to stay off the front pages so we could help the Nicaraguans, Hondurans, Costa Ricans, et.al. take their countries back from the brink of Soviet-style Communism without having to worry about the press scrutinizing our every move. We did both sucessfully. Maybe a little too successfully...

Gunzup!

Wow, what an incredible posting! I do hope that some of the Bloggers such as Beldar and Captain's Quarters will listen in on this subject. Have you contacted them? How about Hugh Hewlett?

Geoffrey,

I know that it is really hard to get through to Rush, but I have heard

Geoffrey,
Don't worry. Kerry is what the military calls a "Target Rich Environment".
He has done so many despicable things that it just takes a long time to get through all of them. There are 46 more days to go and the best is still yet to come. Sit tight and keep your powder dry - we'll do alright.

We've actually had quite a bit of discussion on Kerry's "Nicarauguan problem" on this board.

Depending on how helpful the Search function decides to be at any given time, you can look them up with the Search button at the top of the page.

Good luck!

AllRight!! New blood, and loaded for bear! Great post.
kerry has been moving under the radar for so long, folks had forgotten him, if they ever knew him at all.
The only thing the public has in their mind right now about that is "Iran-Contra". Which was portrayed as a high crime.

They have to be educated from the beginning, with all the events along the way.

Jeoffrey, this is just one more of a long list of red meat issues that is hanging over Kerry. We need some links to verify information to pass on thruoghout the blogosphere. Any references you can site would be very helpful. That goes for all of you bloggers out there that have knowledge on the subject. We always need varifiable sources.

What about Ollie North? - He has motive and opportunity to help educate the American electorate on all of Kerry's treasonous activities.

Granted he may have a perceived conflict of interest, but a lot of people who watch Fox News think Ollie got a very raw deal and consider him a great American hero.

He's not afraid, and I bet he would not hesitate to put the story out. Then people like Britt, Tony and Sean might jump in and help give it wings.

Sean loves Ollie North, and Sean is not timid either.

Wow. It just cements the fact that John Kerry has permanent communist leanings and is definitely anti-American. He is the worst thing that has ever happened to this nation...worse than Benedict Arnold.

Here is the problem. Talk radio shows probably cannot explain in the amount of time it takes (between commercial interruptions) to a public that is only half-listening. It would take a major essay or article appearing in a major magazine (Time, Newsweek) to bring the subject up enough for it to become an issue and for people to understand. Those rags won't do it.

There, that's my opinion.

No wonder it's a leftist state., and fwiw, they aren't getting these messages either.

Good points!

Whenever the chance presented itself, Kerry went with associating himself with the communist side (VC and Ortega), while trying to tear down the current Republican administration.

Whenever the socialists are in control in D.C., he has no problem cozying up to them, though.

It all fits! Is "commie sympathizer" too passe to be revived? Wink

As metioned above though, this is still all useable ammo, which we will soon need, as the Dems and Kerry will act like cornered skunks when things get really desperate. Nothing will be "below the belt" for them, and all the most appalling Kerry stories have yet to be used to enlighten the public. His VVAW activities and his abysmal, America hating Senate record are all fair game, as McCain said.

You would be surprised how many college students have little or no idea of the depths of Kerry's betrayal.

If you seriously believe that, then your route to the talk shows is through the 'blogs'. Get Little Green Footballs, Instapundit, Powerline Blog, Hugh Hewitt, and the rest to get to it. If they think, as I think, that what you suggest itself is a diversion, you might not get much play on their sites. Not that Kerry doesn't deserve investigatio on this, and so much else.

Kerry's Disloyal Nicaraguan Journey
Posted May 17, 2004
Quote:
Kerry Launches His Own 'Investigation': Fed by supportive journalists and Washington-based think tanks that supported the Sandinistas, Kerry put his experience as a former assistant county prosecutor to work in 1986, launching a full-scale "investigation" of his own to discredit the Nicaraguan resistance and the Reagan administration. His probe, alleging an international criminal conspiracy, coincided with lawsuits against retired Army Gen. John Singlaub and others in what was called a legal harassment campaign against American opponents of the Sandinista regime, alleging bizarre international plots.

The cases collapsed under legal scrutiny but made sensational headlines that fueled Reagan opponents for years. The first significant lawsuit was filed in May of that year by Tony Avirgan and his wife Martha Honey, two U.S. journalists who were open Sandinista sympathizers. Evidence in their lawsuit, much of which Kerry and his staff recycled as public statements, was based "largely on information from a dead informant whom they never met and identified only as 'David X,'" the Washington Times' James Morrison reported at the time. According to Morrison, Avirgan "admitted that he had never met David X," who "was the source of the information of the entire conspiracy."

Anybody see a pattern here?
