|
|
Just a quick note FYI in case you want to watch this program: I caught the end of this discussion with McCain on Fox News Sunday-- but the program will be repeated this afternoon…he is basically still saying that we should be talking about Iraq and not about a war 30 years ago (this is a dem talking point now…) -- said Bush is not exactly speaking the truth about the problems in Iraq and that he should be more straight about the situation -- that we need to be more aggressive around the Iraq election and that the American people will understand if he tells them about the upcoming battles that we can win by January if we do more than airstrikes and get boots on the ground in these holdout cities, and that there will be more casualties -- says they can get some Congressional committees going on this issue to get the facts out.
Said Kerry’s service in combat was honorable and that should not be talked about, but that it is okay to talk about things that happened afterwards. That we should not go back and examine the medals that “every single vet got” and that we are in a mess because of this discussion. That the “kids came home and were not well received” -- and that to re-open this is “unfair to vets.” He didn’t say the word “SwiftVets” but when asked directly about them, only spoke around the issue in a dismissive way that indicated he is really against talking about Vietnam and doesn't want Kerry questioned about it.
My quick impression from what I heard is that he is campaigning for Kerry and he would be happy if the SBVFT just went away.... |

God bless John McCain for his wonderful service and self sacrifice for his country. But, he should never curtly dismiss a band of veterans and say they have no right to voice their objections to John Kerry based on their experiences with him. We all know that character and integrity is the cornerstone of every president and since John Kerry has neither the Swifties have their mission to inform the people. _________________ Never Ever Give Up

He also answered re: Iraqi elections..."can't be held unless hot spots are secured". Now that's a good thing for our enemies to hear!

I greatly honor John McCain for his Viet Nam service and for his time as a POW. I happened to be standing crying directly behind the Marine Major air traffic controller vectoring the first POW airplane out of North Viet Nam.
BUT, John McCain seems to have a problem with choosing sides as a Senator. He seems to want everyone including the far left to love him and vote for him in 2008. He needs to decide if he is a Republican or if he is a Liberal Democrat. He can’t have it both ways. He can not be both for the Viet Nam Veterans and against the Swift Boat Veterans. Please choose a side or go home. There is no more room for fence sitters. The future of the world is at stake. _________________ I was going to become an anarchist, but they had too many rules. |

McCain needs to decide if he supports Bush's reelection or not. If he does, then he should shut up if he can't say something nice.
I wonder if McCain is trying to sabotage Bush's campaign. _________________ -Polaris

"not about a war 30 years ago (this is a dem talking point now…)" That point is raised all over the place and it is on its face logical - many of us would hate to be judged today for stupid things we did in our late and immediately post teenage years decades ago (we aren't running for President!), and many Bush supporters used that same argument when the Dems tried to make a big thing of him missing a Guard meeting here and there. So it seems like a good reason for many people to dismiss the Swift issues. That's why I really want to see ad #6 make the connection with Kerry then - a lying sneak who betrayed our troops - to Kerry now - in 1993 betraying the POW/MIAs, burying them alive so he could open trade relations with Vietnam and line his pockets with a multi-billion dollar contract for his family's business. Hope you have checked out the thread "Ad #6: POW/MIA Sellout and Kerry Money Trail in 15 Seconds." There is no denying the relevance of Kerry's Vietnam actions when an ad like that links everything to the present day. |

Captivated by Camelot
Kerry's political career has been intertwined with Kennedy's.
As a Massachusetts teenager captivated by the Camelot mystique, Kerry worked for Kennedy's first election to the Senate in 1962 by broadcasting endorsements from loudspeakers mounted on his Volkswagen Beetle. They didn't meet until nine years later, after Kerry had returned from the Vietnam War as a decorated Navy hero and celebrated leader of Vietnam Veterans Against the War. When more than 1,000 anti-war vets encamped on the Mall in April 1971 to pressure President Nixon, Kennedy ventured down Capitol Hill to meet the young Massachusetts veteran he'd been hearing about. (Me#1 - Yeah...right. Wasn't it brother Bobby's speech writer that penned Kerry's "testimony"?) "I walked out to the place they were bivouacking," Kennedy recalls. "I spent several hours with him that evening. That's when he really made an extraordinary impression on me. I really felt his sort of passion and his inner rage. His emotions were so close to the surface, coming back from that whole experience, where he had been wounded, had saved people's lives and lost very close friends."
By then, Kennedy was a leading opponent of the war in Congress. When Kerry was invited to testify before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that week, Kennedy arranged for 100 of Kerry's group to be admitted to the hearing room. Brinkley, the University of New Orleans historian whose biography of Kerry, Tour of Duty: John Kerry and the Vietnam War, has become a best seller, says the presence of those battle-scarred veterans added drama and served as a moving photographic backdrop.
Kerry's line — "How do you ask a man to be the last to die for a mistake?" — stirred emotions. Kennedy later told Brinkley that the speech "made a mark on my psyche."
When Kerry ran unsuccessfully for Congress the following year, Kennedy lent his support. In 1984, Kerry won election to the Senate.

Oh yeah, I feel I can say all this my husband is from Phoenix

Is McCain Kerry's secret October surprise?
I mean McCain criticizes the Swiftboat Ad, does nothing to support President Bush over the CBS fraud, says nothing about the MoveOn Quagmire/Surrender ad and today comes out to parrot Kerry criticisms about our activities in Iraq.
Who side is this guy on? You would think if he truly supported George Bush, he would be acting more like Bob Dole. |

I supported McCain against "W". I now realize how wrong I was and that the best man definitely won.
McCain is an ever increasingly big dissappointment. He has become an appeaser an apologist trying to be accommodating to those individuals who would sell us out as they did 30+ years ago.
You are either part of the solution or part of the problem. McCain is part of the problem. We should not let our reverence for his celebrity cloud our judgement of his current misdeeds.
This is no tempest in a teapot..."What is past is prologue". That's why kerry's treason 30+ years ago is revelant to this day and that's why he's unfit for command in my opinion. _________________ kerry returned to the United States on July 22, 1971, held a press conference publicly calling on President Nixon... for the surrender of the United States to North Vietnam. |

These are the types of things that have everyone not trusting McCain. Giving the enemy power is UNACCEPTABLE!
He loves those "open boarders" too. Come on in and get an illegal license so that you can illegally legally vote & fill the hospitals & the schools.
{sorry for the rant }
And by refusing to acknowledge the right of the Swifties and all Vets to speak out has me smacking more than my head.
When he allowed the destruction of those POW documents.......he lost my husband and I that very moment. He loves the press so much, why didn't he blow his stack then & there. All he had to do was blink and the press would have been sitting at his feet. _________________ PROUD wife of Army ASA Vet - 66-70

I'm glad to see other people can see through McCain.
I've been able to see through fro about 4 years now and I'm not sure what the man thinks?
I applaud his service and the his POW status, but I think he needs to pick sides too. _________________ Mad as Hell! |
