This morning we were at the airport here in Austin to see my son off (Iraq bound) and who was in the security check out line. Yes Yes Yes the one and only Mr. Dan Rather himself.

Best of luck to your son. Rather is not worthy of being in the same plane as your son.

So, did he look like a happy camper?

Did you ask for his autograph? One on today's paper would have been real saleable!

You *could* have asked him "What is your Frequent Flyer, Kenneth...."

Ditto on the best wishes for your son. God Bless him.

You can bet he wasn't there for the Chili Cookoff.

Maybe for the Austin City Limits 3 day concert Wink

No autograph but I did want to give him something. A slap up the side of his head Twisted Evil But it was my son's time and I didn't think it appropriate to have a news story about an irate mom wacking newsperson while at airport saying goodbye to son heading for Iraq. Not cool.

Actually you should have wacked him really good. Rather takes swipes at our military daily...doing his level best to undermine the moral of the troops in the name of expediance to help elect kerry.

He has been re-activated so currently he has no unit but we shall find out real soon. He's National Guard Army (oh those draft dodgers), out for a year and half and now back in. Thanks for asking.

Wow, I guess he ran to this daughter Robin's house to lick his wounds. I'm sure they will think up some more bad stuff to try and get away with. They should probably be watched. I just saw RaTHer ask a Fox reporter if he (reporter) had been duped for working with Fox (tee hee, RaTHer is losing it).

There are more than a few of us who were (and some still are) National Guard. It's an honorable profession, despite the dispargement of those on the left who never wore ANY uniform other than beads, flowers, and month-old jeans.

I'm sure he'll be a credit to his unit and to the US Army wherever he is assigned.

It's kind of senseless to say "Don't stress". My wife and my kid never paid attention when I told them that, but he *is* serving with the best and brightest, so... just maintain an even strain, and you'll be fine.

So, we know whatever bright and shining lie he comes up with for his next excapade comes from the DNC Austin.
Don't mind me, just drawing a bead.

So, why was Rather going home in the middle of a wekend?

Wouldn't he be due to do the news Monday at 6:30 Eastern?

I saw on FOX that one of their reporters caught up with him. He asked the FOX guy if he felt duped working for FOX after he was asked the same about the docs.

FOX has been running this all day. LOL!
