Quote: | Kerry's Casualty report states he was wounded at 1400, which was 20 minutes before he was to arrive at the Cutter.
It is physically impossible to travel that distance on a swift boat in such a short amount of time. |
I think this time discrepancy is significant but I'm having a "forest for the trees" moment. I've been looking at all the little details but I'm missing something from the big picture. _________________ USMC res 3rd ANGLICO

AUTHORSHIP OF THE AFTER-ACTION REPORT:
Ref (g) provides testimony given by John F. Kerry in 1971. When asked by Senator Symington about the accuracy of information through official military channels, Kerry responded:
"I had direct experience with that. Senator, I had direct experience with that and I can recall often sending in the spot reports which we made after each mission, and including the GDA, gunfire damage assessments, in which we would say, maybe 15 sampans sunk or whatever it was. And I often read about my own missions in the Stars and Stripes and the very mission we had been on had been doubled in figures and tripled in figures".

Are the Stars and Stripes archived, such that, this assertion can be checked? _________________ VietNam 1970-1971 |

Let me guess. You have some infrared Keyhole VHS video shots NRO took from a KH-12 that just *happened* to be parked overhead just lightpiped to you from a Kinkos in McLean, VA.....
Oh, yeah. With 1969 date stamps in New Times Roman. Yeah, that's the ticket! _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC

Yes. It costs you $50.00 to have them search ONE month. They will search EVERY issue for whatever criteria you want, so be sure to include any article that includes "Vietnam" "Swift" or any of the units Kerry was with.
For about 250 bucks, you could get Dec 68 - April 69 and have ANY mention of Kerry (or the swifts) at your fingertips. _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC

Quote: | Here's the deal: If Kerry was wounded at 1400 then he couldn't have possibly been on the Dam Doi river as he states in the AAR and Casualty report. |
I agree but something else is still bugging me.
Quote: | According to Kerry's After-Action report, at an undisclosed time*(see comments below), at coordinates WQ 2774 |
The undisclosed time is an obvious attempt to conceal facts but,
Quote: | Kerry's casualty report states that he was wounded at 1400 on February 20, 1969. The location given is coordinates WQ 280747 |
Kerry seems to be giving 2 different coordinants for the same event. Or it could be that I just don't have a clue. I'm trying to locate both places on a map of the time.
Further, the spotter craft out of Cau Mau may provide some clarification as to the 'true' time line. _________________ USMC res 3rd ANGLICO

We all know that Kerry worked the system by staging many of his adventures and injuries in VN then backfilling the documentation at the time and for years afterwards. The growing body of evidence and an area that needs to be explointed is that there are others (his band of brothers) who may have been party to all this, wittingly or unwittingly. For their support or at least silence they also got some decorations and recognition, not to mention their celebrety status now.
I've read elsewhere on this forum that at least one has expressed some missgivings about his involvement is this scam. Think of what would happen if one of them would fess up. We could hope and pray that their sense of duty and honor would bring them to that on their own but there may be ways to assist in the process.
1. These guys could have been living in isolation since their Navy days. A soft-sell approach from former shipmates or post-avy acquaintanes might motivate them to see they have their vessels tied to a drifting buoy.
2. A harder edged approach would be to confront them with details as being uncovered by NavyChief to convince them that they are involved in a cover up that could have long lasting legal ramifications. |

When I read this quote "I think this time discrepancy is significant but I'm having a "forest for the trees" moment. I've been looking at all the little details but I'm missing something from the big picture." I was SO relieved because after reading Chief's tour de force post many times I thought I was the only one who wasn't getting it... but now that it's clarified - wouldn't other crew on that boat have stepped up at some point and said - hey, duh, you got the wrong river there, sir... remember when that shot came out of nowhere we wer on that big wide river... and the difference in the nature of the wound treatment indicating the type of shell that caused the wound, showing that it was Kerry's own shot that whipped back at him... wouldn't medics be around that might have said - hey, duh, the wounds you received were not made by the shell you claimed caused them...
I don't know Navy procedure at all - how could these lies not have been challenged at the time? |

When you write your book, chief, you need to have sidebars and highlights to point out the IMPORTANT places (inconsistencies, contradictions, etc), so the reader doesn't MEGO out on you.
Or do your [bold bracket] editorial comments on the fly, as you sometimes do.
I know *I* get confused, and I'm used to reading your stuff! _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC
