I had occasion to be at a planning meeting of a half-dozen Kerry campaign strategists yesterday and since they think I'm one of them, their conversation went right on .... Mod Edit, careful you do not burn yourself It was a speaker-phone meeting so I did not see the others and while I got the idea they were all around the country, do not know for sure who they were but "my" person is Mod Edit. This is what I overheard.
They were strategizing how to minimize Kerry's vulnerability to the Swift Vets accusations. Of course they all chimed in with what wacko lying pawns of Republican power brokers all the Swifts are. While they spent lots of time bashing the source, there was no discussion at all of the possibility that there might be some truth to what the Swifts were saying. They had conducted in-house polls and focus groups. Based on their findings, they determined the great majorty of voters are far more concerned over present-day issues than by the activity of Kerry 30 years ago. That the damage from the Swifts, slight as it is, had been done and was behind them, but that had to be reconsidered now with the Rather problem. There was moaning about the Rather episode, hoping it would be all over in a day or two and voters would forget it. Someone said Fox news should be declared a 527 for the Republicans. Someone else said careful or they'll do that with CBS. Big HA-HAs all around. Their polls and research showed that the few voters who would be influenced by things that happened 30 years ago had listened to the Swifts and would not be voting for Kerry. Forget them. Many other voters, inclined to be pro Kerry before the Swifts, have been pushed more toward undecided by the Swift character question issues and had to be re-convinced. There was lengthy discussion about whether Kerry should initiate conversation about Swift issues in light of the whole thing with Rather bringing it back to the forefront of public attention. Someone expressed a wish that they'd find it was all a plant by Bush's people. Most felt that with media coverage of the war in Iraq giving daily images of carnage, Kerry should hammer away at the mistakes made by the Bush administration today, right now. He and his campaign should ignore anything else coming from the Swifts. This would innoculate Kerry against any new Swift activity. Bush and his current failed policies would be shown as so inept and damaging to our country that anything brought up about Kerry and 30 years ago wold seem petty, desperate, and irrelevant.
Someone asked about the POW/MIA and Colliers connection and Kerry's vulnerability should the MSM get ahold of it. (Maybe they've been watching this site - though it's now on virtually all anti-Kerry sites.) Someone asserted that the POW/MIA thing was resolved successfully years ago and what could possibly create vulnerability for Kerry? What was the Collier's contract? Virtually the entire group had no idea what the issue was about. The person who brought it up mentioned the Schranberg series in the Village Voice and the Colliers contract mention by the Center for Public Integrity. Again, total blanks. Surprise that the Village Voice would print anything pro-Republican. Some telling others who Schranberg was. Most saying they would go take a look at the articles to see if there was anything to worry about. Conversation about the POW/MIA families being as wacko as the Swifts. A few expressions of sympathy for the poor things. The families, not the Swifts.
Change of subject to the debates and making sure there were no "ringers" from either the Swifts or now this new group, the POW/MIA people to subvert the focus on present day problems. Long talks about domestic issues that should be pushed in the media, particularly health care. Why couldn't the economic recorvery hold off a few more months? maybe it won't look that good by early November.
Conversation ended. |

If they're worried about the Rather meltdown going on too long, then maybe it wouldn't be too bad to flame that fire. The CBS-Kerry Campaign connections, if they yield fruit, could be the end of Kerry. Not just for this Presidential election, but any future one.

Great Post!!!
If they believe the Rather/CBS meltdown will have a short shelf life, they're dreamin'. This story has legs and it's just started.
By the way, watch your "Six." We all know how crazy the Kerry supporters can be.

Excellent R&S!
No Beadwindow, he's on Nestor in here......
What really bums me out is that my fellow "countrymen" are actually hoping for more carnage in Iraq and that they wish the economy wasn't doing so well.....
Stark contrasts. Stakes are way too high if that fraud Kerry gets in.... |

Great Intel USAFBratToo! -- What's really striking is how uninformed this Kerry gang seems to be. What a bunch of amateurs! You couldn't run a more pathetic campaign. |

Took care of the edits.
People when reporting information you recieve from an inside source or if you are an inside source, please take into consideration the large number of "visitors" to this Site. All it takes is for one person to see something here and put 2 and 2 together, and no more inside source.
While this information is a great look inside the minds of the Kerry Camp, it may not be wise to post so much that it will burn you or your source.
Same thing goes for posting your Personal Information, IE Phone numbers, adresses, e-mail adresses, Names. _________________ U.S. Army 1983-1995, 11C1P/11H2P NBTDT |
