Sandusky talking about the relationship between he and Kerry after the war is laughable.

This from the Boston Globe......
Over the years, Kerry has remained close to many of his crewmates, helping some cope with life's rough patches; he helped arrange for Del Sandusky, a crewmate who was on FleetCenter stage last Thursday, to receive help for alcohol abuse and depression years ago and kept in touch with Sandusky's doctors for years after.

Sandusky did say that he had been hospitalized twice for PTSS. If Kerry was involved in those hospitalizations then that would account for Sandusky's willingness to "stretch the facts " concerning this particular episode in "Nam.

I for one will not stop on November Third. We need to ensure John Faux Kerry is defeated in four years when he is up for reelection to the Senate. If he runs for dog catcher, we need to be there. Paybacks are hell.

We need to keep a perspective on any memories or versions of firefights that occured on the boats. I really don't think Sandusky is lying about his experience. Its his memory and his truth. I for one can remember a number of times when after a patrol we would be sitting around shooting the breeze and hear two, three even four versions of what had taken place. And in some cases could not remember what took place on patrol the next day after a nights sleep. I would gladly shake Sandusky's hand and say welcome home brother, I'm glad you made it. Even though I disagree with his version of the truth. He's a small fish in a big pond, swimming with a bunch of sharks, give him a break if you bump into him in Florida.

Now I have to find a thread about this 10th Swift boat vet who witnessed the Bronze start incident.

As llano mentioned, Odell mentioned that yet another eyewitness, Bob Hornberger (probably "Robert Eugene Hornberger," whom Swiftboats.net lists as a GMG2 on PCF 3), has recently stated that there was no incoming enemy fire. Mr. Hornberger was the subject of an August 7, 2004, article in the Augusta Chronicle entitled "Veteran Questions Kerry's War-Hero Credentials," which includes this paragraph:

Quote:
Again, Hornberger has no first-hand knowledge of Kerry's war actions. But he does question reports about them. Pulling someone from the water? "We all did that. I was pulled from the water. I pulled men from the water. I didn't get a medal for it."

I suspect that Mr. Hornberger does indeed have first-hand knowledge of the events on 13Mar69, although I'm unsure whether Mr. Odell was correct in the radio show in placing him aboard LTJG Droz' PCF 43. Does anyone have a link to any more thorough information about Mr. Hornberger? (His email address on the Swiftboats.net website no longer works.) If so, please message me via the forum here, or email me, or leave a comment please on my blog post about this radio debate:

It's been quite a few years, but my Psych 101 textbook taught me that people's memories are faulty. They can be "led" by other people suggesting details of events to them. When Sandusky says that he has been hospitalized for PTSD, then you have to wonder what kind of therapy he had there. Could there have been group sessions where he heard a lot of other people's vivid war stories? Could he have been questioned about his own experiences, in a leading way, while he was weakened by depression?

I still tend to believe that Kerry's band-of-brothers THINK they are telling the truth, but are mistaken, either because of being under water like Rassmann, or other causes like Alston's head injury. It's sad.

I think the real story of the 13 Mar 69 incident is what happened that night.

According to Unfit For Command, some of the officers discussed Kerry's conduct and then Lt. Wright told Kerry he should just leave. Somewhere, I read that Lt. Wright claimed that "Kerry wanted to stay" but the next thing Wright knew, Kerry was gone. According to Sandusky, LTC. Elliot talked to Sandusky the next day about what happened. Just the fact that Kerry got out so fast (request to go home approved in 3 days?) seems VERRY fishy to me. There is much more to this story than meets the eye. Question
