1000+ US soldiers have given their lives so far in Iraq. And it's no surprise that Kerry is using such numbers to accuse Bush of mishandling the war. However, despite Kerry's politicizing of the Iraq war in an attempt to bolster his political career, it is significant to note that anti-Bush, anti-war groups themselves had pointed out that Bush had supposedly ordered 77,000 body bags in anticipation of the worst case situation in Iraq. Try:

The bottom line is that given that only a little more than 1000 of those 77,000 body bags have been filled after more than a year since the invasion, I'd say that Bush & Company are doing an excellent job of managing the war. After all, this is a war.

1000/77,000 is approximately 1.3 %

Thank You

To be fair, if that many body bags were ordered and sent, I find it difficult to believe the CinC was expecting 50% casualties. Not after the Shock & Awe campaign.

And there were a number of Iraqi military who got the bags before our kids did.

While every single loss is heartbreaking -- every soldier who dies has a family who will forever be deprived of their life -- it is the price we HAVE to pay to keep the terrorists from OUR shores, OUR cities, and OUR families.

3000 died in 20 minutes in the Twin Towers. We can't forget that THOSE deaths, either.

And by keeping the action over THERE, we are spared over here. At least, so far.

Wish I had a reference, but I don't. I read that the predicted number of casualties was 4,000.

We initially thought we were going to lose more because of chemical weapons. Nobody envisioned a guerilla warfare that we're seeing.

It is very disturbing to read on various liberal websites how the liberals are gloating on each death that occurred in this war. These liberals are beaming with joy with any bad news reported, but they conveniently forget all the great stuff that the troops are doing over there - building schools, training the national securty forces, demolishing the insurgents/terrorists, setting the stagework for a fledgling democracy, freeing women from diabolical regimes, reconstructing roads and bridges. These soldiers over there are heroes in every sense of the word, and they do not deserve that traitorous Kerry for CIC. Even though Kerry wavers with everything, he has always been anti-democracy and anti-military.

Don't forget the Dems in Congress want to restart the draft. Against the wishes of the Defense Dept and the Administration they want to piss off the young draft age in this country to get them to vote for Kerry. Yes their nostalgia for Viet Nam is amazing! They really do want to relive the 1960's don't they?

If they want to relive the Vietnam war so be it. Lest we forget that it was JFK and Lyndon Johnson that took us there with the lies. It was Johnson that decided not to run for a second term, it was Nixon that was elected, it was the Congress (democrats) that opposed the war after giving Johnson the go ahead. It wass Congress and the liberal media immediately upon the Nixon election that did everything they could to bash his policy toward the war. It was congress that immediately upon Nixon getting into office becan cutting funding. It was Congress (democrats and Bill and Hillary) who after Nixon won by a landslide that went on the attack and brought down Nixon although overwhelming being elected by the American People. It was Congress who finally stopped funding the war and caused the death of over 3.5 million people in Southeast Asia. Then there is much more like CBS and their first of many scandals with the Walter Cronkite attack on the military that fought and died to win that offensive (Tet) that caused General Giap to put in his memoirs that the N. Vietnamese would have surrendered after the Tet offensive had it not been for the Reporting of Walter (give me a sickle and hammer any day) Cronkite and the VVAW (here it is). Vets from that era need to talk about their experience to family and friends. They need to tell how the democrats in this country have seen fit to re write the Vietnam history (John Kerry). Third they need to thank the Swiftboat Vets for what they have done to get the truth out there and making the American People realize that those were all honest and couragious Americans fighting and dying over there and for what, Freedom and Peace in this world. God Bless the American Military.

For people who got their undies in a bunch over the military's VC body counts in the 60's, they sure do seem to get their jollies counting American casualties, don't they?
Of course, needless to say, no doubt they would nevernevernevernever nevair, mon frere, ever want to use our casualty figures to make political hay.

I would like them to stop their predicting. Period. During Desert Storm they had some obnoxious numers too, but in the that war it was around 105. Puey on all the predictors of body bags. Crying or Very sad
