I think we should make a giant stink about this. He should be fired much less be the one hosting the Presidential debates. |

Is that new, because the plan had been for the CBS turn to moderate:
Third presidential debate

I thought the topic said he would host, my mistake. The fact he is anchoring is pretty sad, given his blatent bias |

My mistake. It did say "host". Whatever Mod moved it over here also fixed it for me.
There is no way he should be allowed anywhere near these debates. |

Maybe the higher ups need to do this so than can show Rather that for him it is over. _________________ The war against terrorism is not that Americans might die rather that we would alter our way of living. Let Can't Back Story have Dan Rather anchor the debates, they will then be further embarrassed should CBS get the smallest audience and someone like FOX beat them again ala the RNC in NYC! |

This can't be true can it I don't believe it and if it is true this country is really going in a bad way. Rather lied through his teeth! I believe the President can deny this because he did not cover the news fairly. Rather is under investigation. I heard Bradley might do it, but Rather Oh God I hope not |

I am split in my thinking on this. On the one hand it's horribly bad judgment for CBS if they are at all interested in salvaging their reputations. On the other hand it might not hurt Bush because the only people watching CBS will be the ones who can't be reached by logic or facts anyway.
It also validates CBS's critics. _________________ Deborah

I am appalled as well. That said, I don't think this is bad for President Bush. Rather has been caught red-handed, and he knows his credibility (OK he doesn't have any left here...but you get the idea) is on the line.
I expect that Rather will go way over the line to be gracious and fair to President Bush during the debates. _________________ -Polaris

Keep the campaign going to the affiliates. I write two letters every day to the local stations. You probably know this link which will send your message to every CBS local station:
Email this link to every aware friend you have and ask them to pass it on.
http://www.rathergate.com/emailaffiliates.php
I SENT THIS LETTER TODAY ABOUT RATHER:
No, no, no, it is shameful that Dan Rather will "host" the after debate on CBS.
Come on, are you serious? Are you just asking for abuse?
Years from now, when journalism schools study this scandal, students will stand up and ask: "Is this fiction? Were executives really that stupid?"
You guys will look back at this event as the turning point where network news handed over the franchise to cable.
I gave up on network news a long time ago. What do I need a talking head for? I'm on the internet all day and I can pick and choose my news sources.
And I sure don't need the liberal biased CBS coming into this household.
Don't you just hate that we all have so many options.
How awful this would have been, say circa 1970, when I would have had to WAIT until a certain hour each day to find out the biased opinion of what was happening in the world.
