Let's hope this is true
Report: Top Bin Laden deputy caught in Pakistan
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1096259490364
Top Bin Laden deputy Ayman al-Zawahri has been caught in Pakistan, according to a report from the region quoted on Israel Radio Monday.
Pakistani forces operating against al Qaida strongholds in the country report capturing the Egyptian national, who was formerly the head of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, which operated in the past against the Egyptian regime.
Earlier Monday, the US commander of coalition forces in Afghanistan Lieutenant-General David Barno told Reuters that there is little evidence of al Qaida fighters still in Afghanistan, and that Pakistan's crackdown on al Qaida-linked operatives has made life harder for fugitives hiding in tribal areas near the Afghan - Pakistani border |

I haven't seen that news anywhere else yet, but if it were true, it would show some startling intuition from "Terry Kerry", who claimed that Osama bin Laden would be captured in October. She would probably say something like, "Well, I told you so--almost--they got his No. 2 man in September". _________________ The traitor will crater! |

I hope this is true. So far, all the major outlets have not brought it up. Rush is on and hasn't mentioned it either. I believe that this is a bigger catch than Bin Laden because he is the master operative behind all this chaos right now.. |

Isn't al-Zawahri Jordanian not Egyptan.
Edit: Oops. Zawahri - Zarqawi. This is screaming for some wise remark about looking alike or sounding alike but it's not politically correct (kinda like JFK). Thanks for helping me get the names straight. _________________ RivPatFlotV, Binh Thuy, RVN, '69 - '70

I think it would be more important than the capture of UBL too, but from a domestic political point of view, nothing would even come close to the capture of UBL to the average American. |

Rein in a bit. al-Zawahri should not be confused with al-Zarqawi. _________________ Why ask? Because it needs asking. |

GoophyDog's right...Zarqawi is the top terrorist in Iraq, who is said to have done the actual beheadings on those gruesome videos. He's Jordanian.
Ayman al-Zawahri is the Egyptian-born doctor who is/was Bin Laden's #2 guy. He is supposedly brilliant and has been a key planner of attacks all over the world.
Remember, there's a chance that Osama Bin Laden is dead, and Zawahiri is Al Quaida's #1.
I'm praying! |

Anybody with some reliable/substantiated update on the level of fighting in Afghanistan? The status of the Taliban? Al Quaida there?
Army Maj General Harrell just told FOX interviewer that he doesn't see any evidence that UBL is leading from the front but can't conclude or prove the UBL is dead. This interview and Tim Russert's interview with Army General Abzaid last night are very informative. Try to see them in rerun. CTW

It'd be a good thing without doubt. But there are so many new cells established now that some radical nutjob will just take their places as they fall. Bring out the nukes, and we won't have to deal with half of these idiots anymore.
Besides, along with terrorists we have our own Secretary of State adding aid and comfort to the Kerry enemy. No other explanation for him spreading gloom and doom on national TV about the situation in Iraq four days before the first debate, and little more than a month until the election.
Always knew he was just a whining liberal in republican clothing. |
