The Army Times issue dated 9/27/04, contains a comparison of President Bush's and Kerry's service record....among the "highlights"....the article states that Bush "slacked off" the last two years of his National Guard Service, that former Lt Govenor Barnes verified he "helped" get Bush into the Air National Guard, that Bush ignored a direct order to receive his physical, that Bush left the Guard without completing his full obligation, and that the elderly secretary verified that although she didn't type the Fraud Memos....that their content was true.... (I cannot understand how the ArmyTime's cannot calculate National Guard points/time, how it fails to mention Barnes' gave previous testimony stating no favoritism, etc....etc...)
Then the article addresses Kerry's service and says that the documents back Kerry's version up, implies & dismisses most of the Swift Vet comments as wrong, relates that Kerry "only" referenced war crimes other soldiers told him had occurred, and that memories are clouded by politics.... it also reports Kerry received excellent evaluations....nothing about how he managed to "complete" his service obligation.....(Oh, it does kinda mention Kerry's version of being in Cambodia at Christmas but states that he was "on the border" so it's not quite a lie....my paraphrase...)
My husband plans to write a letter to the editor....he says the Army really has nothing to do with the paper...it's contracted out...(via CBS perhaps??) thought maybe some of you military people might want to check it out. |

I've wondered about them also. I saw the website a few months back and things didn't seem right, so I didn't go back. |

I did a little research on the backround of the reporter that wrote-up that comparison and he leans quite a bit to the left from what I could ascertain from other articles he's done. _________________ Bill Hershey

The Army Times is a leftist rag.
The only good part about it is that it has the cut-off scores for promotions. _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC

I think it is now owned by USA Today. _________________ US Army Security Agency

I posted before somewhere in the forum about the ArmyTimes posting a link to President Bush's Military 'documents.' Included in the 'documents' were the CBS memos with a small disclaimer that the authenticity of the memos had not been verified! |

We stopped subscribing to Navy Times several years ago - it's left, left, left... and actually anti-military.
We were getting it mostly for the promotions and retirements and Navy news, but the editorial slant made it impossible to support, after a while. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

Hey All;
Years back, the Army Times changed an editor or something like that. They published the bio in the times and I remember that no where was any military service listed.
They are like other print media, just a tad bit closer to the middle then the rest. To me, 50% of the first six pages and the editorial are slanted left most of the time. _________________ Pete

Hmmm, your alls (yes I'm from the South) information, explained a lot (USA Today...that figures). I noticed some "off" comments a few times, but thought I was being too picky... I just never expected something called "ArmyTimes" to use "discredited/fraudulent" information in reporting on Presdient Bush's Guard service. I wasn't too surprised on the "pass" they gave Kerry, knowing that dinosaurs can only read "offical documents".... and you have to kick it's tail a whole lot to get it to move (not unlike the Army itself in some respects).
I wanted to cancel our subscription, but my husband says he skips over "that stuff" to get to the promotions, cutoff scores, etc... and the rest hits the trash. |
