Its not bad enough that the Dems and CBS are commiting fraud on the country. Now the pathetic DNC and Kerry along with CBS are telling the American people that the Draft is comming back. To add an insult to the American voter, the Dems interduce a bill to bring back the draft so thay can charge the president with trying to scam us into believing that he is bring back the draft. Thay also have one of Kerry's band of liers, trying to run the "Oh hes trying to draft my child" BS story, when in reality shes one of the anti war nut balls that Kerry loves so much. America wake up and see just how dangerous Kerry really is for this country.

Here is an excellent analysis of the draft situation by experts in urban legends snopes. com. Short answer is probably no draft, but there are bills floating around in committee. Read all about it.

What they don't mention about the Draft bills floating around in Congress is that they are sponsored by the Democrats, most notably, Charlie Rangle from New York.

We have an "All Volunteer" military - "True Volunteers" and not the "Draft Motivated Volunteers" of my generation (i.e., if the draft is inevitable - pick your service, your training, etc. and "just go).

IF recruiting and retention is a problem - and "Stop Loss Orders" and calling up the IRR and long Reserve/Guard deployments are problems - either political or readiness - the draft is still NOT an answer.

PAY AND BENEFITS "COMPARABILITY" WITH POLICE - FIRE - EMS AND WITH CIVILIAN CONTRACT EMPLOYEES IN THE COMBAT ZONE

What do unionized, big city police and fire fighters make? (That is the fair comparison - let's not short change our military).

Well, San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, Irvine, Anaheim, and San Diego pay their fire fighters "approximately"

1. Firefighter without Paramedic License ... ... $81K
2. Firefighter with Paramedic License (now the journeyman firefighter) ... $93K
3. Fire Lieutenant ... ... $100K
4. Fire Captain ... ...$113 (San Jose has merged LT and CAPT)
5. BTN Chief ... ... $136

To bring our active duty military up to full comparability with fire fighters and police would require about a 50% pay raise

(I used DFAS numbers for mid career E6 for Firefighter comparability, for mid-career E7 for Fire LT, mid-career E8 for Fire CAPT, and mid career O4 for BTN Chief. I used the sum of BAS, BAQ, Hazardous Duty Pay, and Hostile Fire Pay, and multiplied by 125% to reflect non-taxability. Fire fighter income was about 150% of the military pay.

The easiest and fairest way to stop this draft crappola is to have pay comparability.

Here's another great link, Truth or Fiction.com on the rumor about the draft. Of course, they debunk it with facts.

I heard that "Dan wannabe Marine but couldn't make it through bootcamp Rather" went with the draft story on the evening news the other night. His sources were some email. What a piece of crap this guy is.

Here it is, straight from the president's mouth, at the end of the debate:

Quote:
The next four years we will continue to strengthen our homeland defenses. We will strengthen our intelligence-gathering services. We will reform our military. The military will be an all-volunteer army.
