Forgive my pessimism, but I haven't been too happy over the past few days. The spin from the debate and the suspect Newsweek poll have put me there. For the first time I'm anxious or at least I've lost some certainty about the election.

That's why I wanted to mention the fabled October surprise. I really thought there would be one, but I've just about thrown in the towel on that prayer. I really thought we would catch bin Laden or find WMD's and I made posts to that effect. Now, my moodyness has clouded everything.

For the longest time, I thought good news was on the way. I had a good vibe and went with it. Now, it's leaking like Bush's debate/spin fiasco. If we want certainty on November 2, we need a breakout event. It doesn't look like Bush will do that in the debates and that leaves the October surprise.

The only good I can find is this. Normally, when I reach this point something good finally happens. Let's hope the October surprise really does appear before it's too late.
