It seems the hapless hamster from Tax-it-to-us just can't do anything right. Not even win.
Everyone is reporting that Kerry *won* the debate. Okay, well that's bad for Bush, right? Well, actually...NO.
57% of debate watchers now say they believe "completing the mission in Iraq is more important than a speedy withdrawl." Before the debates it was 52%
It appears John "Wayne" Kerry did not manage to change anyone's mind about who would be the better man to handle Iraq (Bush lead by a wide margin going onto the debate and actually leads post-debate by a slightly higher margin) but he DID manage to convince voters that Bush is right in repeatedly saying we must stay the course in Iraq.
It appears Kerry *won* the debate he was having with George Bush, but lost the one he has been having with himself. He thus managed to spend 90 minutes helping George Bush make his case on Iraq-- and ultimately making people more inclined to vote for Bush, who they see as more able to execute the war.
Election Results 2004
John Kerry 42%
George Bush 57%
Ralph Nadar and Snoop Dog- 1%
John Kerry...boy genius...
Also, much has been made of this so-called 1 to 2 point post debate bump Kerry has gotten. Please factor in the fact that the debates were held on a Thursday, and so the polls reflecting this bump would have been conducted Friday and Saturday, the days when Democrats historically poll better. Kerry would have shown a point or two up during a poll taken during this time anyway, as I understand it. He received no bump from the debates among likely voters. (Gallup did an extensive poll on this, you can find it on the web if you are interested.)
John Kerry, one more grand and glorious victory like this, and you're finished...
Remember the Alamo, John F'n Kerry! |
