|
|
While the MSM gleefully embraces the "NO WMD REPORT", they choose to
ignore the really scary part --Deulfer said inspectors still cannot
"definitively say whether or not WMD materials were transferred out of Iraq before the war."
From the Washington Times:
While Iraqi chemical-weapons activity "shifted from production to research and development of more potent and stabilized agents" after the Iran-Iraq war, Mr. Duelfer said that when U.N. sanctions were on Iraq, Saddam sought to sustain the knowledge base to restart the program eventually.
"With the infusion of funding and resources following acceptance of the oil-for-food program, Iraq effectively shortened the time that would be required to re-establish [chemical weapon] production capacity," Mr. Duelfer said. "By 2003, Iraq would have been able to produce mustard agent in a period of months and nerve agent in less than a year or two."

Listen to Laura Ingraham. She is talking about it and bringing out what he said about how he feels about the war, he was for it!

They won't pay any attention to that part until the yellow gas starts to fill the CBS building. Then anyone that lives will scream "Why didn't Bush do anything to stop it???" _________________ "Today we did what we had to do. They counted on America to be passive. Also, did I not read somewhere that the latest evaluation of the trailers / mobile labs was that they were NOT for making hydrogen? _________________ Paul R. |

From http://powerlineblog.com/-- UPDATE: Glenn Reynolds argues that the ISG [Iraq Survey Group] report represents "the complete collapse of John Kerry's foreign policy case."
I can't help but think that, for Kerry, every war is Vietnam. And if he's President, I'm afraid that might turn out to be the case. The "Global Test" bit looks kind of bad, in this light. But it looks even worse when you consider the other revelations of the Iraq Survey Group -- namely, that most of the opposition to the war came from people who were being bribed by Saddam... It's hard to pass the "Global Test" when the people grading it are being bribed to administer a failing grade |

Oh man...the real news from this is not that there aren't any WMD David Kay said this last year. The real news is that Sadamm was using the Oil For Food Program to bribe France, Germany and Russia to get the sanctions removed and they where also selling him weapons at the same time. Sadamm had a plan in place to be able to reconstitute his WMD program as rapidly as possible once sanctions were lifted. If we had left him in place and allowed the sanctions to lapse Sadamm would have been up and runnning in five years. Post 9/11 that is simply not acceptable.
This explains everything about the allies and why they won't help. This is complete validation for taking Sadamm out now not later.
Bush held a little White House lawn speech today but did not articulate this most important development. He just repeated the bad news. He has to talk about his friday in the debate. Disregard what ever question is asked and just lay this out forcefully. COME ON!!! |

Yeah, but the problem is, Bush has to be careful with this. He cannot totally hack off the French*, etc., as he'll have to work with them the next 4 years. (I am pretty sure he is still confident he will win.) So, on this sort of stuff, he has to rely on his supporters (like us) to show that Kerry has his head... wherever.
*The French are of little consequence when it comes to military help in an "alliance", but they ARE still with us on helping find individual terrorists, etc. In fact, we signed a new anti-terrorism accord with them the same day as the first Bush / Kerry debate! I kept wishing Bush would shove that in Kerry's face...! _________________ Paul R. |

Lawrence Eagleburger was on FOX a few minutes ago talking about the Duelfer report and pointed out some incredible realities about the UN security counsel. It seems Saddam had paid agents on the security counsel that were protecting him against a final resolution to autherize war to oust the bloody dictator.
Using the oil for food program money, Hussein was lining the pockets of French, German, Russian and Chinese officials to protect him from a US attack. According to Eagleburger this is glaring evidence of the need to remove Hussein and take down the Iraqi regime. Hussein could not be allowed to control the Security Counsel of the UN and put the whole world in danger of his subversive countrol. This issue alone was reason enough to remove him.
The report went on to talk about these same countries suppling Hussein with weapons and tecnology to resist a US invasion and kill US soldiers. This is the biggest scandal in memory. We need to make sure this is fully vetted and exposed. |
