I've decided not to watch the last two debates, but I will listen on the radio. Seeing that face just drives me nuts; I can deal with the audio okay. I'm not watching the news programs either, for the same reason. I'm getting my news off the internet - it's better for the blood pressure. Today, here in northeast Ohio, we're having a beautiful Fall day. The sun is shining, temp around 70 or 75, trees are changing colors. Got out of the house with the wife and drove up to a flea/farmers market. Bought the first apple cider of the year - tastes great! Got some green, yellow and red peppers, etc., etc. Took a roundabout route home, enjoyed the scenery. Feel much better than I did yesterday. Lots of Bush/Cheney signs around the neighborhood, not too many Kerry signs. We had 4 Bush signs trashed Sunday night; they're all back up except one - The local Bush/Cheney office is out of them until tomorrow. Maybe that means that lots of people locally will be voting against Kerry. After the break, my perspective is a lot better. What's the old saying > Don't let the bastards grind you down. If feeling down, take a break of a few hours and decompress. You'll feel a lot better. As one of my least favorite personalities is known to say > It's a good thing! |
Right on target. There are some things we neglect during war that we just can't afford to neglect. My wife had to resort to asking me to come to bed. Zorba has a great line for this situation, "There is one sin that even God will not forgive; when a woman calls a man to her bed and he does not go."
We plant our garden in September here in Florida. So we have buds and blossoms now. They work well as a reality check. There are always new beginnings. For you in the spring. For me in the fall. Something must still be going right, make sense, and be dependable.

It was Maj Bob Bevilacqua, I believe. I heard him referred to as "Major Bob," but can't be absolutely sure of the last name. _________________ Bye bye, Boston Straggler! |

Thank God this showed up on the board. I was beginning to think I was the only one wanting to scream (and screaming at the tv)! _________________ God Bless America, and God Bless the Swiftees! |

Me too. That's why I've redoubled my efforts and send twice as many emails and post twice as many blog opinions. Today, I picked up two more Bush/Cheney signs from campaign headquarters for unoccupied rentals. Remember what happens when the "goin' gets tough" and stay the course. They may steal it but they cannot win it. It's ours to lose. Mother of God, please don't let that happen. _________________ '58 Airedale HMR(L)-261 VMO-2 |

It's nice to know someone else out there thinks the same way I do. I can't believe the mass public in our country act like a bunch of sheep, just going wherever the "lead" sheep takes them, whether it's to grass or over the cliff. I prefer not to watch too much news anymore, either. I've been sitting out back by the pond reading "The Child from the Sea" or "Unfit for Command".
A good old war movie or John Wayne western helps me feel better, too. |

The great Fall day I talked about earlier turned out even better. As we were walking our dog around the neighborhood this afternoon, we saw a really neat yard sign I hadn't seen before: "Support President Bush and Our Troops". I went up and rang the doorbell and introduced myself. (I was wearing my USAF Viet Nam Vet hat) I asked where I could get one of those neat signs. The lady said she would try to get one for me tomorrow, and I promised her a couple of the Sink Kerry Swiftly bumper stickers. This evening, the doorbell rang, and it was the same lady. Since our son is active duty AF, she gave us her sign and said she would be able to get more next week. Very nice of her! I loaned her my UFC to read, and gave her the two bumper stickers. Neighbors helping neighbors. The way it should be. Made my day! |
