Even as John Kerry denigrates their achievements for political gain, the people of Afghanistan are voting in a historic election.

KABUL (Reuters) - Afghans have braved threats of Taliban attacks to begin voting in a historic presidential election that they hope will mark the beginning of the end to a quarter century of conflict.

Heavily guarded polling stations in Afghanistan opened at 7:00 a.m. (3:30 a.m. British time) and will close at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, although Afghan refugees in neighbouring Pakistan started voting half an hour earlier.

Fox just corrected the explosion story. Apparently a truck caught fire near a polling station - no injuries reported.

We damn sure did the right thing for that country, funny Kerry never talks about that. He's still a traitor.

Amazing how negative that traitor is. I am proud of what we did in Afghanistan, and now in Iraq. All nay sayers go away.

The beauty of it is that very vote cast in Afghanistan is another needle driven into the voodoo doll of Komrade Kerry.

Go Afghanis!

Fox news said people were proudly doing the thumbs up sign as you passed them by in the street to show the ink mark on their thumb from voting.

Women were crying after voting, happy and hopeful.

I saw old bearded man being frisked before be allowed into the building to vote, and he had the biggest grin on his face.

It's Just Wonderful!

bout made me cry

They are quick to shoot a carbomb, but first-time voting in a democracy seems to be an uncomfortable news to broadcast!!
