I thought I heard this last night but wasn't sure til I read a transcript a while ago.
Quote: | And the president is moving to the creation of our own bunker- busting nuclear weapon. It's very hard to get other countries to give up their weapons when you're busy developing a new one. |
To me, and I'm not too bright, this means that we are going to have to stop building any new weapons systems if Kerry gets elected.
What a mindset this guy has.
Scary Kerry strikes again.

He has said it before also. What are we going to use to get the nukes that Iran and N. Korea have if we don't have the BunkerBusters? Spit balls? _________________

Actually, if Kerry is elected he will expect the French to defend us....
or maybe he can drop his PLAN on targets? _________________ Jim D |

First, he'll see if it passes the "Global Test," then, hold a summit, then approach the UN and maybe then, he'll think of a plan _________________ Clark County Conservative |

This is John Kerry's "moral equivalence" argument: that the United States, the greatest force for peace the world has ever seen, is morally equivalent to the North Koreans and the Iranians.
News flash: WE ARE NOT MORALLY EQUIVALENT TO THOSE BANKRUPT AND MASS-MURDERING SOCIETIES.
This is a return to John Kerry's true persona... a peacenik who blames America first. It's not pretty, folks.

As an aside, I did locate a copy of Kerry's "Global Test" circa 1972... complete with proportional fonts... it makes for interesting reading:

Kerry's UN: Gentlemen, after we have put forth 27 UN resolutions to get Korea to dis-Arm, We have decided to ask for Congressional permission to use force against them. We really won't use force but maybe we can scare them! _________________ ATACKM

Won't work! By then there won't be enough ships or planes to carry the troops over there (have to pay for all those other programs, and 27 UN resolutions will take a l-o-n-g time).
But I have no fear, sKerry has a PLAN. Maybe he can scare them with his PLAN jar? |

Kerry would be the type of president who would get us into very dangerous positions around the world as over-compensation. _________________ US Army Security Agency

If I remember right the last "special weapons system" we developed was the Navys Trident-ll D-5 SLBM. The entire Trident/Ohio class program was almost derailed in the mid-70's by then President Carter, "if you remember right he thought along the same lines as John Kerry". The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan brought Carter to his senses and we poured funding into this program, and others.
The D5 was deployed in 1990, the C4 "Trident-l"in '79 the MX ICBM in 1986, which BTW we will be phasing out completly in a few years. All three of these warhead types are only suitable for anhiliating citys. The warhead for the D5 blows at 450kt, the C4 "Trident-l" blows at 100kt. Both SLBMs commonly deliver 8 mirved warheads and the Ohio class subs carry 24 SLBMs. The MX is a ICBM that can deliver 10 mirved warheads that blow at 300 kt. The warhead on the Minuteman-lll ICBM blows at 335 kt....you get the picture. "BTW Hiroshima was 16 kt".
Of all the special weapons we have we only have two types that have a "low blow" capability, that is a 10kt or less yield". A warhead for tomohawk cruise missiles, along with a variant for ALCM, and a gravity assist weapon, along with another variant. Thats it! These four weapons, of two types, can be set to blow anywheres from .3 kt to 10 kt. "They can also be set to blow at up to 150kt to 350 kt". And since we dont deploy nuclear armed Tomahawk, per agreement with the Russians, it would take us many hours to get a low blow weapon on target against the deranged midget in NK, or the I-ranians. Not that it really matters because neither warhead is deployed in a penetrator anyway.
In effect we dont really have a "low blow" nuclear capability against hardened targets. The North Koreans like to hide things in mountains and it isnt going to do much good blowing a low yield nuke 1,000' above the mountain. You might get it, and you might not. And the regional effect of an air burst thermo-nuclear weapon, of the power needed to destroy such a target, would be entirely catastrophic. Simply put, we need a low blow/penetrating nuclear capability. And we need it yesterday!
Were going to need it regardless of who gets elected, Bush or Kerry. And Kerry knows it! Its stupid, reckless, and selfish to try and make political points on this issue. Of course nobody "wants" the damn things! We need them! pure and simple. Strategicaly we are still armed for a 1980 war and we have to prepare for 21'st century conflicts.
Again Kerry made a major blunder and I believe Bush failed to jump on it. The first debate it was over North Korea, and this one it was about this weapon. Of course Kerry was trying to appease the flag-burning crowd but enough Americans are news savvy enough to understand the need for this weapon,AND, a Hyper-velocity Bomber system to deliver it....................thank you.................Rich _________________ "Freedom" is never "free" |
