God bless you Walt Jones for your service to your country. I trust that you will now find the peace that was not found in this lifetime.

Unfortunately, when your name is on the roster, that's one roll call you can't miss. God Bless you Marine and Semper Fi.

I never met the man but obviously he was a hero to some and a giant to others. Let's commemorate and honor him by continuing his work. Let him inspire us to defeat Kerry.

I remember Walt well, and fondly, he gave me such a warm welcome when I joined this forum.

Let his voice still be heard.....

Walt, May 11, 1st post
Quote:
An Insult To All Marines

The picture on the cover of John Kerry's book The New Soldier resembles the scene depicted in that famous photo of the Marines raising the flag on Mt. Suribachi. I believe that VVAW and Kerry were deliberately mocking that symbolically important event. It is apparent that the most beloved and reproduced photograph in American history - one that helped inspire our soldiers, sailors and Marines to victory in a tough campaign for our very existence and can now be found in every Marine Corps boot classroom - never made much of an impression on John Kerry, and that is still true to this day. If not, he would have apologized for such a grave insult to his country, to all who fought in WW2, and to all United States Marines. I call on all veterans, but especially ALL Marines, to avenge this insult by ensuring that John Kerry not only loses in November, but loses so badly that his political career is destroyed. That's my mission; how about you? Semper Fi! Walt, Marysville WA, (USMC ’65-’69)

We will carry on with your mission Walt
Semper Fi!

Not Walt........ Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Please tell his wife and family that many of us here are heartbroken and so very appreciative of his contributions and sacrifices to his country.

I will miss him.

Walt and I joined this forum one day apart in May. He was a former
U.S. Marine. I´m former Navy. We had an instant bond. I felt
his passion. It jumped out of the computer screen.
I sensed he was a good man.

He and I emailed each other privately when I was sick in
Billings, Montana (May). I told Walt I have been wearing a
POW/MIA bracelet for years (SGT Bruce W. Staehli, USMC)
because the US Navy and US Marine Corps personnel are Brothers-
in-Arms. I even invited Walt to my home
if he ever got to Montana. I guess he´s looking down on our
efforts now. We will win this for him and our country.

Have now discovered that Walt was the same age as myself,
within one month.

Please send my best to his wife.

Will miss you Walter "Walt" S. Jones.

I am very sad. I was wondering where Walt was. I joined here back in the beginning when he did, too, and I corresponded with him when I first discovered The New Soldier book on ebay after doing a search, and then eventually for free online. He will be missed, and already is.

I never knew Walt either, but I agree that we should dedicate our remaining efforts to Walt's memory.

-------------------------------------

The Marine Prayer

Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose
love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence and
obedient to Thy will.

Keep me true to my best self,
guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed
and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow
Marines, my loved ones and Thee without shame or fear.

Protect my family. Give me the will to do the work of a
Marine and to accept my share of responsibilities with
vigor and enthusiasm. Grant me the courage to be
proficient in my daily performance.

Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the
duties my country and the Marine Corps have entrusted
to me. Make me considerate of those committed to my
leadership. Help me to wear my uniform with dignity,
and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold.

If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith;
if I am tempted, make me strong to resist;
if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again.
Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom
by which I may understand the answer to my prayer.
