If John Kerry had been president on 9-11....

Would he have given the Taliban an ultimatum to hand over OBL or else, or would he still be pleading with them to tell him what they would take for him?

If he had given an ultimatum and they refused, would he have launched the full scale military attack, or would he have gone to the UN for some sanctions and resolutions?

If he had launched the attack, would he have sent tens of thousands of troops into the mountains to search for OBL until they got him, or would he have let OBL slip away because OBL had all the help he needed to get to Pakistan, and wherever else he wanted to go?

If he had relentlessly searched for OBL and actually got him before he could escape, would he have kept forces in Afghanistan to help rebuild and form a democracy, or would he have tossed it at Khofi Annan as we hot-footed it out of there?

If he had kept troops in Afghanistan to rebuild, would he have ever considered whether to tackle any other terrorism sponsoring nation like Iraq, or would he have declared "Mission Accomplished."?

If he had wanted to take on the Iraq problem, would he have mobilized 150,000 troops on Saddam's doorstep, or would he have launched a series of talks with Saddam to persuade him to accept nuclear fuel in exchange for his promise not to make weapons?

If he decided to bring in the troops and get the inspections going, would he have pushed the UN for the resolution allowing for the use of force, or would he have accepted the French watered-down version?

If he pushed for the tough resolution, would he have decided to enforce it when Saddam failed to comply with it, or would Hans Blix still be poking around?

Once Hans wrapped it up and declared there were no weapons, Kerry would have had to announce that there was no reason to be there, lifted the sanctions and pulled the troops out.

If we are to believe what Kerry says, we would not have fought the Iraq war. Today, three years later, thousands of terrorists would still be alive, living in Iraq, with Saddam's support, and in Syria, Libya, Pakistan, and wherever else they pleased after fleeing Afghanistan. Free of sanctions, Saddam would be reconstituting his nuclear and biological weapons capabilities today. Tens of thousands of Iraqis would have been added to the mass graves. Iraqi children would still be in prison. Citizens would still be subject to rape, mutilation, and murder. Terrorists would have surely found it easier to launch their attacks, since most of the Al Qaeda leadership would still be around to direct them, and no state that harbored them would have any reason for concern.

Perhaps we would have a homeland security department, a patriot act, military and intelligence agencies being updated and streamlined for 21st century warfare--but what are the chances? There would have been no Rumsfeld, no Cheney, no Ashcroft, no Ridge, no Rice to take charge of these things--would Kerry's cabinet be as capable? Would they even have seen the need for anything beyond more prosecutors and tougher penalties for terrorists? Three blasts and you're out, perhaps?
There would have been no tax cuts, so the economy would still be staggering, which Kerry's past record suggests he would have addressed by cutting the military and intelligence budgets.

Kerry would like us to believe that he would somehow have prevented the jobs hemorrage and summitted his way to an understanding with all the mid-eastern dictators, plus Korea and Iran. We would all be living contentedly in a much-loved and admired nation under enlightened leadership, only occassionally annoyed by a nuisance terrorist attack.
Apparently a lot of voters can picture themselves in this happy land where terrorists lay down their arms and accept our apologies for our formerly arrogant ways, and John Kerry goes down in history as the Great Intellect Who Showed the Way.

The rest of us call that Fantasyland, and we're glad we weren't living there on 9-11.

He would have served OBL with a court ordered appearance.

He would have whined and cried to the UN for help in tracking down OBL and rattled his sabre at Saddam and the rest of Al queda. He would DEMAND, I tell you, DEMAND sanctions against Afghanistan and put more resolutions on Saddam. Which Saddam would laugh at and continue to build his weapons. The Taliban would continue their bloody regime and ignore the sanctions. He would tell the American people over and over how he is going to "bring these terrorists to justice".....but do nothing to make it happen. Drop a few bombs in the mountains of Afghanistan. He would play footsie with France and Germany and they would lie through their teeth to him.....and he would BELIEVE it.

Emboldened by Kerry's lack of action and weakness Saddam would again invade Kuwait, since he knows Kerry voted against the Gulf War 1. The oil for food kickbacks would still be going on and Saddam would be in the drivers seat.

Saddam would work with worldwide terrorism to hit America hard..,....really hard.....and the "nuisance" we call terrorism would somewhere cause a mushroom cloud over an American city. .....and congress would be forced to declare WW III in spite of President Kerry's call for calm and UN involvement.

Yep, America would be a safer place had Kerry been at the helm on Sept 11. Rolling Eyes

Kerry would also have had to outbid Saddam for the support of corrupt French, Russian, Syrian, and German officials in the U.N. for support for a resolution declaring that the people that attacked the U.S. on 9/11 would be allowed a "redress of grievances" before an International Tribunal decided if the terrorists should be brought before the Hague.

And Saddam would keep on cutting off hands and cutting out tongues cutting off heads in soccer stadiums and throwing people from four-story buildings and connecting electric wires to human genitals and turning up the power, and Kerry wouldn't say boo about it to the United States Senate. Neither would Syria, in charge of the UN Human Rights Committee.

Including Airlines, WTC, City of NY, FDNY (for not responsding fast enough), the architects of the WTC and Logan Airport.

I don't like to bash anyone, but I find most of the 9/11 lawsuits RIDICULOUS. These people doesn't deserve a nickel more than relatives of our GI's that sacrifice themselves for the common good in IRaq.

All based on empotional spin and senseless logic with iliterate juries.
