I recently came across a Viet Cong propaganda leaflet left for us on Highway QL-1 near Duc Pho in Vietnam sometime betweent July of 1967 and October of 1969. It is undated, but that is the time frame my unit operated in the area mentioned in the leaflet. It was their belief that they could influence us to defect, mutiny or desert, by working on our fears - in other words, typical communist propaganda, which we found ridiculous.

I was struck by the last line in this particular leaflet, and wonder if anyone can think of an echo from our boy JFK a couple of years later? Perhaps we give Mr. Walinsky too much credit for ghost writing talent, and perhaps we can guess a little better what kind of advice Kerry got from the VC in Paris.

In the original fractured English, it ends:

"Your parents, wives and children long to see your back home alive, but not in a coffin with a death allowance, a purple heart medal bestowed by Nisson. Do try to avoid the unfortunate fate of the last GI killed in this war" (emphasis added).
"The Central Duc-pho National front for Liberation"

d19thdoc, is there any way you can scan that document and email it to me? If so, just PM me - I'll host it. Sounds interesting.

We already have pretty conclusive evidence that Kerry came home from Paris with a laundry list of KGB-written "talking points." This could certainly be one of them.

There should be a number on it, usually in one of the lower corners. If you can post the number, I can (maybe) bounce it off my PsyOps catalogues.

NNN, if you host it, PM me, I'd like a link so I can make a copy for my records.

I'd like to see THAT in an ad..... VC propaganda 'Do try to avoid....' vs Kerry propaganda ' How do you tell ..... ' with pic of VC and pic of Kerry with their respective lines..... Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

maybe 1 soldier picking up flyer and reading that line to another soldier.... and then Kerry spewing his propaganda line....

Nisson is "Nixon" with a French accent.

Well, then, that should give a terminus ante quem for the leaflet. Sometime between Jan 69 and Oct 69.

It sure does have a familiar smell to it!

Of course, logically, instead of asking if the Vietnamese lifted his speech, maybe Kerry lifted theirs.

Either way, the message of the communists and Kerry were one and the same.

They destroyed Joe Biden's campaign in '92 (or '8Cool for plagarism. Why not this time too?

John Kerry - incapable of an original thought even on this!

Much like Kerry himself in his Cambodia fantasy, I forgot that "Nisson's" tenure would help define the time frame. My unit was in the Duc Pho area from July of 1967 to October of 1969, so the pamphlet must have dated, as someone notes, from between January and October 1969.

I will get it to Echo Juliet.

Knighthawk's pamphlets pretty much nail down the fact that this phrase was a patented communist talking point. Kerry's use of it is generally referred to as the most memorable line of his anti-war career.

". . . how do you ask a man to be the last man to die in Vietnam? How do ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?"

Same old liberal tripe.

Ho Chi Minh Talking points and MoveOn Talking Points are identical and people are *surprised*?
