|
|
“Americans deserve a Supreme Court that is fair, independent, ethical and served by justices committed to our constitutional freedoms rather than an ideological agenda. {You mean, unlike Ruth Bader Ginsberg?} Justice O'Connor refused to use her position as a means to advance a political agenda. {again, unlike Ginsberg?}In replacing her, we must be confident Judge Roberts will do the same. {Oh, he MUST be like Ginsberg?}
“We know Judge Roberts is no Sandra Day O’Connor, {Oh, thank God} and the White House has sent a clear signal. {so did 51% of the voters} There are serious questions that must be answered involving Judge Roberts’ judicial philosophy as demonstrated over his short time on the appellate court. {you mean, unlike the softball questions asked of Ginsberg?} The Senate must learn whether he has clear consistent principles upholding Constitutional standards {will you actually show up?} like civil rights, the right to privacy and Roe v. Wade. {please explain why Roe V Wade is someones "right to privacy," when the woman who intitiated it is now against it. Does the unborn child have any rights? Please explain why this matter couldn't be better handled by states, the same states you feel can better handle other issues and the Feds should keep their noses out of the business}
“The American people expect the Senate to fulfill its duty to conduct a thorough, independent review of any nominee, {why wasn't it done for Ginsberg?}and I intend to do exactly that. {hopefully, much better than you did for your so called "winter soldier investigation"}I hope Judge Roberts and the White House are forthcoming about his qualifications, background and constitutional philosophy so the Senate can act with all the facts. {odd you should expect this when you haven't even fully released your own "War Hero" records for all the nation to see}There’s too much at stake to do anything less.” {what else would we expect but the less from you, Senator?}

One last thing, Senator. The election was over last November. YOU LOST!!! You even gave a concession speech. Now, go out and play with Teddy in your sandbox. We'll call you when dinner is ready. _________________ Clark County Conservative |

Great rebuttal, Lew!! _________________ “I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. ‘Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.” (Thomas Paine, 1776) |

Good heavens, why is this buffoon still talking? Hell, even the left is embarrassed when he speaks.
Where does he get the apparent notion that he is somehow still relevant to anything but Cambridge and Air America?
You brought up a good point - we should try to find the questions asked of Ruth Bader Ginsberg during her confirmation and blanket Congress with them.
Confirmation should be no more difficult for a Constitutionalist than it was for a socialist ACLU hack. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

Unlike the Democrats the Republicans have been very even-handed during the confirmation process-this would include the confirmation of Ruth Bader Ginsberg(past ACLU lawyer). _________________ Tin Can Gunline Vietnam

I had almost decided on what search terms to enter into google.
This is simply incredible. Never in my wildest dreams.
Look at what we have been putting nominees to the appellate courts through over the last six years.
Confirmation hearings as antagonistic as firing squads.
Then you read this little tea party with Ginsberg and the Senators and it's like we're in the middle of some insane farce. What are we doing?????
She refused to answer anything! SHE set the rules, right up front! And that was perfectly okay with everyone!
What the hell are we doing????
OH, there goes the blood pressure. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

Good one Lew!
and thanks for the commentary - it made reading the article possible. (He's like a poison....some kind of noxious, vile chemical that makes me sick just looking at his words...)

So Mr. Perfect is still at it. Can someone replace the Energizer battery with a generic battery? |

So, Mr Roberts:
1) Have you ever been expelled from Harvard for cheating on exams?
2) Have you ever left the scene of vehicular manslaughter?
3) Do you have a forty year record of alcohol abuse?
4) Do you enjoy the disjointed standards applied to Supreme Court Justices and the senior senator from Massachusettes?
When it comes to the Senate, Roberts will not have Kerry's vote...go figure. In committee he won't have Kennedy, Biden, Chucky Schumer or Dustbin. I just wish some Rep. on the committee would ask these questions. _________________ "KILL ALL THE LAWYERS!"
