I'm not feeling great today. In fact I'm feeling downright mean and uncharitable. The following I didn't need.

I was just getting into Coulter's column when I got hit over the head by an editing 2 X 4:

I could hardly sleep last night... promised myself I'd NEVER vote again etc etc...

anyway... I had to read that line about 3 times.... just couldn't figure it out with the 'lose' in it ! lol! so, I gave up and finished your post...

then I knew why I couldn't understand it - wrong word!

I see people (supposedly w/ college educations) on my other board screw up those 2 words ALL the time...drives me nuts!

They sure don't teach much spelling and grammer in school anymore do they?
We have high school kids working at our local weekly newspaper and it's almost unreadable with errors.

Of course, it's good for me that the newest version of Firefox has an automatic 'as you type' spell checker built in.
Anyhow, your post brought a glimmer of humor into an otherwise dark day so thanks for the pick-me-up.

Not to distract from mood swings but I read that on first glance as a composition mistake and not a spelling mistake. When composing direct to screen I frequently do the same, consider a synonym and end up with both.

e.g.

Tester can cut the infernal buzz cut

Tester can lose the infernal buzz cut

Both make more sense to me than "cutting loose" something that may not want to find a new home.

Not knowing "Tester" or his "buzz cut", I may have got the wrong end of the stick here, but you can cut me some slack if you think I'm losing the plot somewhat.

Lose the haircut.

Do you think she meant to tell Tester to loosen up?

No, she's right, you are wrong.

Either that, or I am banned for life. Which is it????

That word "cut" was hiding in the shadow of that big "lose."

As 1991932 can attest, I have a loose buzz cut.

But I'm not going to lose it, as I barely have enough hair up there to cover the hole in my head that Betty S. gave me when I was 12 years old.

Her brother and I called her a name and she promptly hit me on the head with a well-thrown rock, that blocked out the sun on its laser trajectory towards my crew cut dome...but that's another story

As far as buzz cuts, crew cuts, and bald heads, those are the hair styles of choice in Montana. What with the wind and bitter temperatures, those are the only hair cuts we can keep in place beneath all of those hoods and caps we have to wear to keep our heads warm.

Somewhat seriously now, John Tester made a great deal out of his Montana crew cut during the election. Considering just how narrowly he won the Senate nod in Montana, I'd say he won by a crew cut hair
