After reading how the Red Cross wants Saddam and other detainees released after the hand over and all their worry about the US's treatment of prisoners, the one thing I can't find anywhere is their condemnation or their efforts to ensure Americans being held are being treated as fairly as they demand we do.
The IRC seems intent on only making sure we treat detainees witht he utmost of respect and kid gloves, while they continue to behead our people and perpetrate more acts of terrorism against us.
Additionally, even as far back as WW2, the IRC also seemed to be intent on only watching the US while doing half hearted efforts at ensuring the allied prisoners were well treated. |

ASPB,
What reality do you live in?
I'm asking because we have memos from the Justice Department (the people who are supposed to uphold our laws) stating that torture is permissable, we have a report from a General who says that we abused detainees, we have at least 37 suspicious deaths of prisoners in US Military custody, we have an IRC report stating we are abusing prisoners, yet you ask if I have proof.
All these people are lying? |

AHHH! What you were calling Torture you're now calling abuse. Which is it? Show me one Justice Department actual document, not a press report, that says "torture" is permissible. Show me where Tacuba used the word "Torture". BTW, questionable deaths are not "suspicious" deaths unless you write for the NY Slimes or the Washrag.
I suggest you take your bait and switch propaganda tactics elsewhere! _________________ On Sale! Order in lots of 100 now at velero@rcn.com Free for the cost of shipping All profits (if any, especially now) go to Swiftvets. The author of "Sink Kerry Swiftly" ---ASPB |

I think what we have here is a "failure to communicate"
Let's try this. What IS torture? I'll stick my neck out and go first.
I believe it is inflicting physical pain on another person beyond their ability to tolerate it fairly easily. Ergo...doing pushups till you can't do any more is not torture. Driving splinters under fingernails is.
While putting panties on a man's head may be considered abuse...to me it is not torture. Having a dog growl and bark at a person may be frightening , but unless you let the dog get at them, it is not torture.
Beating someone to death is not just torture, it is murder. Dead bodies may indicate a wrongful death but not necessarily torture.
If you have other thoughts on the subject...fire away. _________________ "If he believes his 1971 indictment of his country and his fellow veterans was true, then he couldn't possibly be proud of his Vietnam service." |
