A lot is being made of the Newsweek poll of registered voters who watched the debate showing Kerry leading Bush 47-45%. Does this poll not show more about the make up of who watched the debate than who is really leading in the election? I'm sorry, but, this tells me more Democrats watched the debate than did Republicans. And, what questions were asked to find registered voters who watched the debate?

Sunday October 03, 2004--The latest Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll shows President George W. Bush with 49% of the vote and Senator John Kerry with 45%.

These results are based upon a survey of 3,000 Likely Voters conducted Thursday night, Friday night, and Saturday afternoon. As a result, just over two-thirds of the interviews were conducted following Thursday night's Presidential Debate.

Interviews conducted on Friday and Saturday show Kerry with a one-point bounce so far since the debate. However, in post-debate interviews, Bush still leads 49% to 46%.

The debates did little to change voter perceptions of the candidates' political ideology. However, following the debate, there was an increase in the number who say finishing the mission in Iraq is more important than getting troops home as soon as

Look at the makeup of Republicans vs. Democrats in Newsweek’s poll from September 11, 2004: NEWSWEEK POLL: Campaign 2004.

391 Republicans (plus or minus 6)
300 Democrats (plus or minus 7)
270 Independents (plus or minus 7)


Compare against the same data from the new poll, which Newsweek is using to claim that Bush’s poll lead has “evaporated:” NEWSWEEK POLL: First Presidential Debate.

Did Newsweek choose a lower percentage of Republicans for the first debate to set up Kerry’s “comeback,” or did they stack the deck with more Democrats in the second poll?

I do not trust the MSM let alone newsweek. They are so biased. To get a fair and balanced view Fox News is a good way to go.

I don't believe any of the polls. It's just Psychological warfare to discourage the wobbly.

I watch a lot less news right now. I don't need the aggravation.
All I can do is make sure I vote and encourage others to do the same.

So until election day, instead worrying about polls, watch a good sitcom or rent a movie from blockbuster, it's a far more productive use of time.
