A lot is being made of the Newsweek poll of registered voters who watched the debate showing Kerry leading Bush 47-45%. Does this poll not show more about the make up of who watched the debate than who is really leading in the election? I'm sorry, but, this tells me more Democrats watched the debate than did Republicans. And, what questions were asked to find registered voters who watched the debate?

The Newsweek poll has been very inconsistent over the months so I put very little credence in it

Not to worry...yet anyway. I noted that Newsweek counted more Dems this weekend, than their last Poll.

The following is as of today on Presidential Tracking Poll: Bush-Kerry

Sunday October 03, 2004--The latest Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll shows President George W. Bush with 49% of the vote and Senator John Kerry with 45%.

These results are based upon a survey of 3,000 Likely Voters conducted Thursday night, Friday night, and Saturday afternoon. As a result, just over two-thirds of the interviews were conducted following Thursday night's Presidential Debate.

Interviews conducted on Friday and Saturday show Kerry with a one-point bounce so far since the debate. However, in post-debate interviews, Bush still leads 49% to 46%.

The debates did little to change voter perceptions of the candidates' political ideology. However, following the debate, there was an increase in the number who say finishing the mission in Iraq is more important than getting troops home as soon as

Here it is. Found it on www.littlegreenfootballs.com
DON'T GIVE UP THE SHIP!

10/2/2004: Newsweek Poll: Stacked?

Look at the makeup of Republicans vs. Democrats in Newsweek’s poll from September 11, 2004: NEWSWEEK POLL: Campaign 2004.

391 Republicans (plus or minus 6)
300 Democrats (plus or minus 7)
270 Independents (plus or minus 7)

Compare against the same data from the new poll, which Newsweek is using to claim that Bush’s poll lead has “evaporated:” NEWSWEEK POLL: First Presidential Debate.

345 Republicans (plus or minus 6)
364 Democrats (plus or minus 6)
278 Independents (plus or minus 7)

Did Newsweek choose a lower percentage of Republicans for the first debate to set up Kerry’s “comeback,” or did they stack the deck with more Democrats in the second poll?

Are there really that many independents?

Not as a percentage of the voters and that is one of the problems...too many Dem's and too many Independents. Newsweek is so far to the left, they are off the chart. I sent this to Drudge, but not a "Word" about this stacked deck.

It is possible for Kerry to loose 48 States IMO.

Kerry has a lock on New York and California, but the rest are possible for Bush to take.

I do not trust the MSM let alone newsweek. They are so biased. To get a fair and balanced view Fox News is a good way to go.

I don't believe any of the polls. It's just Psychological warfare to discourage the wobbly.

I watch a lot less news right now. I don't need the aggravation.
All I can do is make sure I vote and encourage others to do the same.

So until election day, instead worrying about polls, watch a good sitcom or rent a movie from blockbuster, it's a far more productive use of time.
Very Happy
