I just heard the last 10 min or so of Rush. He talked about either a senator or representative who is introducing legislation that it is a crime punishable by up to 5 years in prison to slander a politician.
I had to answer the phone, so I wasn't able to catch who the politician is nor the referenced newspaper.
If anyone else heard this or knows something about it, would you please post.

Now wait a minute. We're talking about politicians here.
You can call any one of them a low-life subhuman pile of pond scum that isn't worth the cost of a bullet and they can't do anything. Why? Because truth is an absolute defense against libel/slander.
