Can anyone tell me where I can find out if this is true or not
From Detroit News - Feb 02, 1971

DOD Special Forces? does WV have a local military office? call a local base or recruiting office for guidance? Do you know what special force he was with?
otherwise, I'm sure someone military will respond shortly....

It would be very difficult without more info, because it is such a common name.
I looked for about 6 years for an old army friend, but finally found him.
I looked in white pages, there were 46 of Larry Youngs and you don't even know if he is unlisted or not.
You really need more info to have a good shot at it.
